Administration

Server Administration

I am primarily based in a Unix/Linux platform when it comes to advanced administration (Gentoo, FreeBSD, Debian).

I am currently maintaining my own web-host servers (clustered), database servers (in replication), multiple DNS servers, multiple mail servers.

I've had experience installing, configuring and maintaining the following applications (in no particular order):

Above are the main aspects of my server administration. There are many other smaller utilities that I have maintained.

Other aspects to mention, are that I have run multiple high load gaming servers at large (500+ node) LAN, which require high maintenance to and optimisation to allow minimal latency increases as these people who play on them are picky about the quality of the playing feild when there is money involved.

Network Administration

I have intermediate experience with network setup and maintenance.

I've had experience with the following networking situations:

  • BGP Routing via WIX/APE.
  • DMZ instances for seperation of networks.
  • Running multiple subnets over the same network.
  • OpenVPN bridging of multiple remote networks together.
  • Assistance in development and installation of temporary 500 node LAN Gaming network.
  • Assistance in development and installation of a 200 node LAN for Wellingtons largest Internet Cafe.
  • Assistance in development and installation of a 50 node LAN for Palmerston North's largest Internet Cafe (now closed).
  • Development of UDP broadcasting program to allow LAN servers on remote networks to show up.
